The Biggleswade town centre masterplan or BIGG picture is a flagship project from Central Bedfordshire Council that will deliver Biggleswade’s first ever town centre strategy and master plan.

The core objective of both the strategy and masterplan will be to safeguard all that is good about Biggleswade, its historical core, commercial vitality and distinct identity whilst improving key areas identified by residents, businesses and other visitors to the town centre as requiring attention and improvement.

Over the next 18 months up to the end of 2010 we will be working with and listening to a range of partners including the Town Council, Chamber of Trade and the local population to deliver a high quality town centre improvement strategy and Masterplan for Biggleswade town centre.

The Strategy and Masterplan will identify, promote and guide new retail and housing led development opportunities in Biggleswade Town Centre. It will ensure that change and improvements are co-ordinated, including the delivery of infrastructure, public realm enhancements and new community facilities. It will have the status of a Supplementary Planning Document (SPD) within the Central Bedfordshire (North) Local Development Framework.

The strategy will also link to the Town Plan currently being produced by the Biggleswade Town Plan steering group. More information on which can be found via our links menu.
